Lentil Soup

Ingredients:

• 1 lb ground pork or sausage (Blackwater fresh ground recommended), browned  

• 1 large onion, chopped  

• 1 small green pepper, chopped  

• Fresh carrots, chopped (use as many as you like)  

• 2 large garlic cloves, chopped  

• 1 bay leaf  

• 2 cans chicken broth  

• 1 can (14.5–16 oz) chopped or stewed tomatoes, with liquid  

• 1 cup water  

• ¾ cup lentils  

• ¼ cup Blackwater Hot + Sweet Mustard

Instructions:

Stovetop Method:

1. Add all ingredients to a large pot.  

2. Bring to a simmer and cook until carrots are tender and lentils are fully cooked.  

Crock Pot Method:

1. Add all ingredients **except lentils** to slow cooker.  

2. Cook on **LOW for 6–8 hours**.  

3. Add lentils **2 hours before serving** and continue to cook until tender.

Serving Notes:

• Cooked elbow noodles (place in bowls before adding soup)  

• Parmesan cheese on top  

• Crusty bread for dipping
